Layoff Bargaining Update

Dear colleagues,

This week your union reached a tentative agreement on keeping 5 positions employed at the Academy and 1 layoff was rescinded by management.

However, Academy management is still rejecting any shared sacrifice proposals that would preserve Academy programs, save its award winning studios, and prevent lasting damage to the Academy’s reputation and mission.

What will move management and the board to reverse course?

Public opinion and your participation:

  1. Continue to circulate the community petition

  2. Rally the morning of Thursday, June 11 at City Hall before Academy management presents at the city budget committee hearing. If you are able, take the whole day off so you can be in the room for the hearing. Put in now for paid time off and RSVP!

In solidarity,

Your CAWU Chapter Board

(Teddy, Jasmine, Marie, Holly, Ian, Natalie)
